Congratulations Oak Hill Hospital Stars
March 2006
Alexis Verhelle, HIM-Cancer Registry.
Alexis joined Oak Hill Hospital on October 29, 2002, where she worked in the medical records coding department. She is now Cancer Registry Coordinator. It is her responsibility to keep track of all patients who have been diagnosed with cancer at Oak Hill Hospital. Alexis lives in Homosassa; her daughter, Kaitlen, 17, will be joining the Marines in January. Alexis nomination states that she has a heart of gold as recently witnessed during the hospitals efforts to raise money for the Katrina victims within HCA. Thanks to her and others, the hospitals yard sale raised over $2,700 for these victims. On top of that the hospital matched the donations making the total contribution over $5,500. Alexis was instrumental and worked very hard in accomplishing this goal. We are exceptionally proud of her efforts. Alexis says that she truly likes the people at Oak Hill. They are some of the best people Ive met in a long time, she says.
Gerald Dzik, Patient Transporter.
Gerald began working at Oak Hill Hospital in October of 2004 in the environmental services department and transferred to radiology as a patient transporter. As he puts it, his job is to ensure that a patient gets from point A to B
safely! Gerald lives in Spring Hill. He says, My story is simple and short. I work, I work out at Golds Gym, and Im still thinking about what I want to do with my life as a career. Im looking at Radiology. Geralds nomination pointed out that he takes time to make patients comfortable. In one instance he was observed where a patient had complained of feeling sick to her stomach. Gerald made sure that she was warmly covered and continually went back to ensure that she was OK. He has a reputation for being extremely caring. About Oak Hill Hospital Gerald says the things he likes best are the people and the work.
Ann Runnells, RN-Third Floor.
Anne joined Oak Hill Hospital in June of 2000. Her primary responsibility is as a staff nurse but she also functions as a relief charge nurse on the third floor and in pediatrics. Ann moved to Homosassa from Maine in June of 2000. She has two sons, Christopher, 15 years old, and Nick, 14 years old. Anns nomination came from a coworker who said, One day I came in to a full census of pediatric patients. I called Ann at home and she changed her plans to come in and help. She was a life saver! I was drowning and she stayed long enough to help me get things done. Ann says that she likes the diversity of working charge as well as pediatrics. I love working with the children. Its a great.
